What does Equality and Diversity mean?

Equality

HP will treat everyone in a fair and reasonable way without prejudice or discrimination.

Diversity

HP recognises and embraces individuals and groups from different backgrounds, of different abilities and ethnic origins.

Why is Equality and Diversity Important to us?

HP wants our services to meet the needs of customers to ensure that you remain happy living in your home.  By understanding the diverse needs of our customers we can continuously improve and provide high quality services.

To remove barriers so everyone can access our services we have:

  • Joined language line (an international translation service)
  • Staff trained in the use of type talk
  • Staff trained in the use of basic sign language and communication skills for the hard of hearing
  • Ensured our offices meet the disability discrimination act
  • Have a hearing loop in our reception and interview rooms
  • Upon request can provide information in different languages, Braille, large print and audio

For more information you can look at our Equality and Diversity Strategy or our service standards.  We also have an Disability Impact Group which includes tenants, board members and staff, if you would like to join the group to improve the services we offer to our customers please contact Hazel Neilson on 01254 269000.

Alternatively if you do not want to attend meetings but do have a suggestion for improving our services please email us on customersupport@housingpendle.co.uk
