'High five' for Housing Pendle

HOUSING Pendle's Supported Housing service has been given a “high five” as it retained the prestigious Telecare Service Association (TSA) for a fifth consecutive year.

The service provides 24-hour monitoring response service to older and vulnerable customers throughout Pendle and beyond, supporting them to maintain their independence while secure in the knowledge that help is at hand.TSA award

And with even tougher standards being introduced in February, Housing Pendle has the distinction of being the first provider in the East Lancashire to achieve the new mark.

The service has been running for the last 20 years and is constantly adapting to make sure customers are able to take advantage of the very latest technology.

This includes everything from gas/carbon monoxide detectors, fall detectors, wander alert packages and medication dispensers.

Our Central Control centre and the alarm equipment in customers’ homes have also been upgraded to comply with the BT 21st century network.

Over the last year, the service’s Central Control dealt with a staggering 162,733 calls – over 27,000 more than last year.

Our customers have been delighted with the service with almost 94% of customers described themselves as satisfied.

The service was never more important to its customers than over the winter period when the country was gripped by severe weather.

Our dedicated team of Community Support Visitors continued with scheduled routine visits to their customers, abandoning their cars and making it to their appointments on foot.

Housing Pendle is looking to offer their diverse range of support services to new customers under the “Younique” banner later in the year.

Joyce Leighton, Housing Pendle’s Supported Housing Manager, said: “We received our first accreditation back in 2006 but this new award has been by no means easy to achieve.

“But it has been invaluable in ensuring that we continually strive to develop robust procedures and maintain rigorous standards, which in turn enable us to provide the best possible quality support services to our customers.”

SAFE IN OUR HANDS: Head of Housing Janette Taylor, Supported Housing Manager Joyce Leighton and Executive Director Ian Clark with the Telecare Services Association award.
